The Russian occupation forces continue their attempts to advance into Ukrainian territory and to push the Defense Forces out of the Kursk region. The enemy has captured six settlements.
This information is reported by the monitoring project DeepState. According to analysts, this concerns three settlements in the Donetsk region and three more in the Kursk region of Russia.
Specifically, the Russians have occupied Petropavlivka, Vozdvizhenska, and Solenoye in the Donetsk region. Additionally, the enemy has seized Novoiivankivka, Leonidovo, and Alexandria in the Kursk region of Russia.
The Russian army has also made advances in Dvurechne in Kharkiv Oblast, near Zakhidne (Kharkiv region), Kurakhovo, and Yasenovo (Donetsk region).

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of 22:00 on January 9, there have been 144 combat clashes with the enemy since the beginning of the day. The highest number of enemy attacks was recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, where the occupiers carried out 37 storming and offensive actions.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stated that Russia has already lost 700,000 soldiers killed and wounded in the war against Ukraine and will continue to suffer significant losses. According to him, over three years of full-scale war, Moscow has incurred greater losses than in all other conflicts combined since World War II.
