The Russian occupying forces continue to disregard international law. The enemy executed captured Ukrainian soldiers.
This was reported by the commander of the 24th Separate Assault Battalion "Aidar," Stanislav Bunyatov, with the call sign "Osman," on his Telegram channel "Govorjat Snayper." The murder of Ukrainian warriors occurred today, December 24.
"Today in the settlement of Ukrainka, the bastards once again shot at prisoners, preliminarily this involves 6 servicemen of the Armed Forces," – the message states.
It is noteworthy that there have been no statements from the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets regarding the new war crime committed by Russian invaders as of now.
We emphasize that the killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and qualifies as a serious international crime.
Execution of Ukrainian warriors by Russian invaders
Since the beginning of 2024, Russian occupiers have executed at least 109 Ukrainian prisoners of war. These are officially confirmed cases, reported Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets in mid-December. He added that in the previous years of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 177 cases of execution of Ukrainian defenders by Russians were recorded.
On December 22, the Ombudsman reported on a new crime committed by the occupiers – Russians shot five Ukrainian prisoner defenders.
Subsequently, the spokesperson for the operational-strategic group of troops "Khortytsia," Nazar Voloshin, stated that on December 22, in the Vremevsky direction, the invaders killed four Ukrainian soldiers who had surrendered. He noted that this is unfortunately not the first time this has happened and is a gross violation of international humanitarian law, "however, this has never stopped the occupiers."
