Dictatorial regimes inevitably make fatal mistakes, believes former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny. According to him, when one single person makes all the decisions, there is no room "for other thoughts." Thus, Hitler's decision to invade the USSR became fatal, and for Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin, the decision to attack Ukraine in 2022 will be equally disastrous, he writes in a piece for "UP".

"Exactly 80 years ago, prisoners of one of the largest Nazi death camps - Auschwitz-Birkenau in Oswiecim - were liberated. It was created by the authoritarian regime of a cannibalistic dictator who sought to rule the world and ultimately faced defeat. But time will show that dictators resurface, and humanity cannot afford to relax," states Zaluzhny.

The Ukrainian ambassador to the UK notes that the first war in Georgia in 2008 "bears a spirit reminiscent of" Hitler's annexation of the Sudetenland (Czech Republic) in 1938, while Germany's takeover of Austria, referred to by the German authorities as "reunification," is similar to the occupation of Crimea. In both cases, a pseudo-referendum was conducted.

Zaluzhny also emphasizes that Putin, like Hitler, had long prepared the country for war by eliminating opponents and creating a powerful "propaganda machine," which serves as the main support for dictators. Moreover, both justified their aggression as "defense against attack."

Other news about Zaluzhny

Earlier, UNIAN reported that while European countries are prepared for short-term combat actions, the situation regarding a war of attrition is less optimistic. Zaluzhny believes this can be judged even by the increasing number of aerial targets, which grows every day. Western air defense systems will not cope with such a volume of drones and missiles.

Additionally, Zaluzhny described in his first book his encounter with a fortune-teller 25 years ago. This took place in a sleeper car, where the woman predicted a "terrible war" with Valeriy Zaluzhny as the central figure.
