The U.S. Congress is prepared to impose sanctions against countries that refuse to take back their citizens unlawfully residing in the United States. This was announced by U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson.

"Colombia and all countries should keep in mind - Congress is fully ready to implement sanctions and other measures against those who do not cooperate fully or fail to meet the requirements for accepting their citizens who are illegally in the U.S.," he noted in his social media post on X.

Johnson added that President Donald Trump prioritizes the U.S., and Congress "will implement policies that will strengthen his agenda."
