The United States has imposed sanctions against the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan.
On February 6, American President Donald Trump signed an executive order titled "On the Imposition of Sanctions Against the International Criminal Court." Today, on February 13, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) updated the sanctions list.
Russian propagandist Olga Skabeeva has already reacted joyfully to this news: "Aaaaaah. The US has imposed sanctions against the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, who issued an arrest warrant for Putin! What is happening?".
Arrest Warrant for Putin
As is well known, on March 17, 2023, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for the Kremlin leader and the Commissioner for Children's Rights under the President of the Russian Federation, Maria Lvova-Belova. They are accused of deporting children from the occupied territories of Ukraine.
In May of last year, ICC prosecutor Karim Khan requested arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on suspicion of committing war crimes in the Gaza Strip.
The US is a key ally of Israel, which is why Washington criticized this decision and promised to respond. Subsequently, the United States imposed sanctions against the ICC and its officials.
