The United States is not yet prepared to offer Ukraine security guarantees. These guarantees should be part of a peace agreement, which would require Ukraine to cede territories to Russia. As reported by Financial Times, this was stated by U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.

According to him, America can no longer "continue providing billions and billions indefinitely" to Ukraine. He believes it is premature to discuss the security guarantees that Ukraine is seeking at this time.

Nonetheless, Waltz is convinced that both sides will need to make concessions and compromises for peace.

"This war must come to an end, and that will require territorial concessions. This will necessitate concessions from Russia regarding security guarantees. We cannot obtain any specifics from the Ukrainians, but it is clear that there will be some territorial concession in exchange for future security guarantees, as discussed in previous rounds," he stated.

The War in Ukraine: Strategic Prospects

As reported by UNIAN, Donald Trump is attempting to implement a peace plan that broadly mirrors the "Minsk agreements." Specifically, he aims for a swift ceasefire to facilitate more prolonged negotiations on the final terms of conflict resolution. However, analysts regard this plan as a failure.

In this context, the leaders of the United Kingdom and France have announced the beginning of their own peace plan development in collaboration with Ukraine. It is expected that this joint plan will subsequently be presented to the U.S. President.
