The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, have signed a cooperation and support agreement intended for a duration of 10 years. This was reported by the Ukrainian leader on the social media platform X.
"Albania has been providing military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine since the onset of the full-scale invasion and will continue its support throughout the 10-year term of the agreement. Albania will also contribute to the fighter coalition," Zelensky stated.
The text of the agreement has already been published on the official website of the President of Ukraine. In it, Albania condemns the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and reaffirms its steadfast support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders as of 1991, including territorial waters, and acknowledges Ukraine's inherent right to self-defense as enshrined in Article 51 of the UN Charter.
Furthermore, under the agreement, Albania will continue to support Ukraine for the entire 10 years of its validity, and will "contribute to the fighter coalition by providing training for Ukrainian pilots and technical personnel in English."
Additionally, Albania and Ukraine will deepen cooperation in the fields of intelligence and security in accordance with the provisions of bilateral agreements and multilateral mechanisms.
Overall, the agreement consists of 81 provisions, which cover, among other things, cooperation in the defense industry.
Ukraine's Cooperation Agreements with Other Countries
Recently, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, visited Ukraine. During this visit, a 100-year partnership agreement was signed between Kyiv and London. This agreement encompasses elements of security, defense, economic, and technological cooperation, as well as collaboration in the information and cultural sectors.
In October 2024, Ukraine and Germany concluded an agreement for the immediate enhancement of Ukraine's air defense. This agreement outlines arrangements whereby the signatory countries will contribute to joint projects or finance their own initiatives aimed at strengthening the air defense capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
