Last night, Ukrainian naval drones targeted Russian observation points on offshore platforms near occupied Crimea. However, the most significant aspect is that this time, in addition to kamikaze drone boats, the Armed Forces of Ukraine also deployed drone carriers with FPV drones. Analysts from Defense Express highlighted this development.
The video footage released by the press service of the Ukrainian Navy includes not only episodes of the kamikaze boats ramming the platform supports but also several moments featuring unmanned aerial vehicles. These UAVs launch from the internal compartment of the naval drone and strike Russian reconnaissance equipment positioned high on the platforms. At one point, an FPV drone hits Russian personnel who are bustling around on the platform.
"This is essentially the first time such a combination of unmanned systems has been captured on video," writes Defense Express.
Meanwhile, volunteer and activist Sergey Sternenko noted in his Telegram that what the Navy showcased today is not the first instance of combining unmanned surface vessels with FPV drones.
"Work on integrating unmanned systems with crewless vessels has been ongoing for quite some time. FPV has a vast untapped potential. More to come," he wrote.
Other Innovations in Ukrainian Weaponry
As reported by UNIAN, the day before, Ukroboronprom unveiled the latest Ukrainian reactive drone "Peklo," classified as a "rocket-drone." Its flight range is claimed to be 700 km, with a speed of 700 km/h.
Military analyst Denis Popovich pointed out that the stated characteristics of the "Ada" allow it to target locations, including within Moscow.
