The U.S. authorities will impose sanctions against Russia and send their military to Ukraine if the Russian dictator refuses to engage in negotiations to end the war.

This statement was made by U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance in an interview with The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). According to him, these measures may be necessary to urge Putin to reach an agreement with Ukraine.

The American Vice President asserted that Ukraine must have "sovereign independence." Otherwise, Vance stated, the U.S. will impose sanctions against Moscow and may even initiate military actions if Putin does not agree to a peace deal with Ukraine that guarantees long-term independence for Kyiv.

Vance mentioned that the option of sending American troops to Ukraine remains "on the table" if Moscow fails to engage in good-faith negotiations. As noted by WSJ, the politician made this statement in a much more assertive tone than Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who previously suggested that the U.S. would not send troops to Ukraine.

Negotiations with Russia

A couple of days ago, American President Donald Trump spoke about the possibility of negotiations regarding Ukraine's fate between Russia and the U.S. This sparked outrage among European and Ukrainian politicians, who have long argued that no negotiations regarding Ukraine can occur without the involvement of the Ukrainians themselves, as well as their European allies.

The Europeans demanded that the European Union and Kyiv be involved in any negotiations to end the war.
