At Bankova, drone debris damaged part of a building
The city authorities may consider adopting the experience or calling on specialists from Zaporizhzhia to restore the historical building that was damaged during yesterday's Russian attack, located at the corner of Instytutska and Bankova streets.
This was reported by the capital's heritage protector, Dmytro Perov, on his social media page.
“There is a wonderful example of restoring buildings from the same period in Zaporizhzhia. They even revived the production of facing tiles that were used in the construction! I urge Vitali Klitschko to seek advice from colleagues in Zaporizhzhia and Lviv, instead of demolishing the buildings damaged by shelling,” Perov wrote.
According to him, the residential building featuring neoclassical decor elements was constructed in 1941 for the Soviet Council of the Ukrainian SSR. In 2006, the building was included in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine as a monument of architecture and urban planning of local significance. This structure is a valuable example of interwar architectural development, demonstrating the evolution of architectural thought of that time, and serves as a significant element of the architectural ensemble of the street, being one of its architectural dominants.
Recall that yesterday, during an airstrike, debris from a downed drone struck the upper floors of a residential building located at the intersection of Instytutska and Bankova streets. As a result, the renowned neurobiologist, Doctor of Sciences from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ihor Zyma, and his wife were killed.
