The city authorities are unresponsive to the requests of Kyiv residents
The Ukrainian capital remains the only city in Ukraine where public transport is halted during air raid alerts. Two other cities, where local authorities previously took similar actions, have since ceased this practice.
This information was reported by the NGO "Passengers of Kyiv".
“We recently inquired about the situation in Khmelnytskyi and Ivano-Frankivsk and were surprised to learn that public transport has not been stopped there for several months,” wrote the activists of the civic organization.
They reiterated that the capital's authorities stubbornly continue to ignore petitions from Kyiv residents requesting the cancellation of the rule that halts city public transport during air raid alerts.
“This creates transportation issues for hundreds of thousands of passengers using ground transport and the metro,” emphasized the NGO "Passengers of Kyiv".
It is worth noting that experts have found Kyiv ranks among the TOP-3 capitals in the world for traffic congestion. Due to air raid alerts this year, Kyiv residents spent 101 hours in traffic jams.
