The draft resolution failed to gather the necessary votes three times
The Kyiv City Council was unable to secure enough votes for the draft resolution aimed at preserving buildings that are over 100 years old.
Lawmakers were asked to approve the draft in its first reading and then make additional amendments. During the plenary session on December 12, the draft was put to a vote three times, but it did not receive the required number of votes on any occasion.
The resolution proposed the establishment of a legal framework to oversee work on buildings and structures constructed more than 100 years ago, which, according to the Law of Ukraine on "Protection of Cultural Heritage," have not been granted protective status. Active discussions on this topic began in July of this year following the controversial demolition of the Zelensky estate.
