Analysts conducted a study
The Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, for unexplained reasons, did not vote "for" or "against" any of the Kyiv City Council's decisions regarding the renaming of the city's streets as part of the de-Russification or de-imperialization of toponyms last year.
The results of the relevant study were published by Movement CHESNO.
“According to the study, Mayor Vitali Klitschko was absent for 97% of the votes on de-imperialization. The capital's mayor participated in only two votes on February 8, but even then he did not press any of the buttons,” the message states.
As noted by the analysts of the organization, it was recorded that in 2024, Vitali Klitschko initiated the majority of the plenary sessions and outlined the main draft decisions that were to be adopted that day. However, during the approval of the agenda or at the beginning of its consideration, the city mayor would leave the session hall.
At the same time, as specialists found out, the overall level of support for de-imperialization in the Kyiv City Council was quite high last year. Specifically, out of 65 initiatives that were put to a vote in the KMU session hall in 2024, city deputies approved 60.
Recall that the KMVA established facts of illegal issuance of special passes that allow movement through the streets of Kyiv during curfew.
