Despite the war, substantial funds continue to be spent from Kyiv's budget on secondary needs
In particular, "Kyivzelenbud" has signed 31 contracts since the beginning of the year for the repair and improvement of parks in various districts of the city, totaling 183 million hryvnias. This amount is equivalent to the purchase of 1,330 Mavic 3T night drones that would be needed at the front. All repair work is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
This was reported by “Our Money”.
It turns out that during the wartime, the establishment of pedestrian and bike paths, installation of kiosks, benches, trash cans, and decorative canopies with swings are very relevant for the city authorities led by Klitschko. Significant budget funds are being allocated for the arrangement of lawns, irrigation systems, sidewalks, external video surveillance, lighting, as well as living hedges made of bushes, and the restoration of flower beds...
Analysts from "Our Money" have noted some peculiar expenditures, such as the renovation of a park at the intersection of Kubanska Ukraine Street, 20, and Lisovyi Avenue, 31, in the Desnyansky district – here, the cost of repair work even included the art object "I Love Lisovyi" priced at 643,080 UAH/unit.
Additionally, for the improvement of the park on the Dnipro waterfront near the Berkovshchyna bay, a decorative shadow arch was ordered for 4.66 million UAH/unit including delivery.
As reported by Kashтан NEWS, since October 2023, "Kyivzelenbud" has been headed by Yuriy Bakhmat, who previously managed the department for the development of the natural reserve fund and green economy at the Department of Environmental Protection of the Kyiv City State Administration. His wife, Tetiana Bakhmat, works at the KP "Darnytske Forest Park Economy" and purchased a Kia Sportage for one million hryvnias in January 2023.
