The municipal workers will have to restore a significant section of the road
In the capital's Podil, large-scale work will begin on the first day of the last month of winter to replace the tram tracks.
This was reported by the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration.
“On Saturday, February 1, repair work on the worn sections of the tram tracks will begin on Hlibovytska Street, from Sichovykh Striltsiv Street to Nizhniy Val Street,” the city hall announced.
Officials noted that the length of the tram tracks along Hlibovytska Street from the intersection of Dmytrivska and Koperna streets to the junction with Nizhniy Val Street is 3.5 kilometers. The last complete overhaul of this section, including the full replacement of the upper structure of the tracks and the road surface, was carried out over 50 years ago.
It is important to mention that during the repair work, tram lines No. 14 and 18 will be closed. Instead, from February 1 until the work is completed, a temporary bus route No. 14T will operate, connecting "Prospect Vidradny — Contract Square".
The Department assured that after the replacement of the worn-out emergency tracks on Hlibovytska Street, the road surface of the carriageway will be restored.
Recall, the municipal enterprise "Kyivpastrans" plans to spend nearly 17 million UAH on the repair of old Tatra trams.
