Residents of the Left Bank Demand Answers from the Kyiv City Administration
An electronic petition calling for the unblocking of traffic over the Darnytsia Bridge towards the right bank during air alerts has gathered the required 6,000 votes in less than a week.
The petition's author notes that residents of the Left Bank are unable to reach the right bank of the city not only during air alerts but also for at least two hours after they conclude.
“The situation is critical, as it is more dangerous to be trapped in a car in a 'dead' traffic jam when missiles are flying than to reach at least the nearest shelter safely,” the petition states.
Kyiv residents are demanding that the city authorities eliminate the artificially created traffic collapse.
“Perhaps it is time to unblock at least the Darnytsia Bridge towards the right bank for vehicles or consider the possibility of public transport or ground metro operating during air alerts? Or at least hear a constructive response as to why the Darnytsia Bridge is not closed from the right to the left bank, while crossing from the left to the right is impossible?” the petition emphasizes.
