The specialist named the reasons
Since the beginning of this year, over a hundred restaurants and cafes have ceased operations in Kyiv.
This data was provided on her social media page by the director of the analytical center "Restaurants of Ukraine," Olga Nasonova.
“In the past year, about 120 restaurants and cafes have closed in Kyiv. In this unfortunate competition, Kyiv is winning (let me remind you that in Lviv, about 50 establishments have closed or are for sale, and there was already panic),” Nasonova wrote.
Among the reasons that prompted owners to shut down their food businesses, she mentioned the most common factors.
In particular, as Nasonova pointed out, new establishments lacked the funds and time for promotion; some opened with incorrect concepts, in the wrong locations, and with inappropriate pricing, while owners of older establishments either did not want or could not update them. Additionally, some functioning establishments closed to undergo rebranding and revive in a new format; fatigue among owners and a lack of resources to overcome challenges were also cited as reasons for cessation of operations.
“Well, and external factors such as power outages, alerts, mobilization, and, in general, the war,” the analyst concluded.
Recall, law enforcement officials reported suspicion against the director of a private firm that was supposed to provide Kyiv with food in March 2022.
