According to Klychko, this allegedly aligns with the interests of the military
The Kyiv City Council has allocated 100 million hryvnias to finance the capital's courts.
The decision was made with 66 votes during a plenary session on Thursday, December 12.
The item regarding the provision of accessibility and sustainability of the judiciary during martial law, for which this amount has been allocated, was included in the city target program "Defenders of Kyiv".
The main objective of the program is to organize military service, mobilization training, and territorial defense of the capital.
Klychko's administration justifies the funding of the courts through the defense program by claiming that it supposedly meets the needs of the military.
“Our defenders and their families need access to justice not only in terms of inclusivity but also through the electronic court system and conducting court sessions via video conferencing. This will serve to protect the rights and interests of both the military and their families,” stated Viktor Domohalsky, a member of the "UDAR" faction, during the discussion.
