The contractor who "pulled" money from the city budget for the construction of the metro line to Vynohorod has to return it to the treasury of Kyiv
This decision was made by the Supreme Court, and it is final.
The amount in question is 139 million hryvnias. Instead of constructing the metro line to Vynohorod, the contractor deposited this money.
This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, which filed the relevant lawsuit in the case.
Establishing that budget funds were placed in deposit accounts, the capital's prosecutor's office approached the court back in 2021, demanding the recovery of the accrued interest amounting to over 139 million hryvnias in favor of the capital community.
The courts have considered the case multiple times. In April and October 2024, the Economic Court of Kyiv and the Northern Economic Court of Appeal fully satisfied the prosecutor's claim and ruled to recover the accrued interest from the contracting organization to the capital's budget.
Disagreeing with the court's verdicts, the contractor appealed to the Supreme Court, which rejected the cassation appeal of the company and upheld the decisions of the previous courts.
As reported by Kashтан NEWS, the subway was being constructed by the company "Kyivmetrobud". It has been generously funded from the city budget over the years. Meanwhile, the city leadership was unwilling to acknowledge the poor state of the construction. The city mayor Klitschko even apologized to Kyivans for making premature promises regarding the opening of new stations.
The metro stations "Mostytska" and "Prospect Pravdy" in Kyiv began construction in 2019. They were planned to be opened in December 2021.
Reminder: In September 2021, the company "Kyivmetrobud", which acted as the general contractor for the construction of two stations in Vynohorod, requested to extend the contract terms. The builders then stated that they would not be able to complete the stations by the end of 2021.
The company approached the court to request an extension of the completion date from November 2021 to May 2023. In February 2023, "Kyivmetrobud" resumed the construction of the metro line to Vynohorod, however, active work has not been conducted since the fall of 2023.
Later, the Municipal Enterprise "Kyiv Metro" terminated the contract for the construction of the metro line to Vynohorod due to delays. The next general contractor became the company "Avtostrada" led by Maksym Shkil.
