The Deputy Mayor has written a letter
The Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) opposes supporting the petition from Kyiv activists regarding the cessation of construction work aimed at preserving the historic fence of Baikove Cemetery.
The letter addressing this matter was sent to the leadership of the Kyiv City Council and relevant committees by the Deputy Head of KCSA, Petro Panteleev.

In his address to the Kyiv City Council deputies, Panteleev pointed out that the work being carried out by the Ritual Service of the Special Combined Enterprise "Specialkombinat PKPO" is focused on the capital repair of the fence, including anti-landslide measures on Baikova Street, and "is specifically aimed at preserving the graves and memorial structures, the threat of destruction of which has arisen due to significant pressure from large masses of soil from the cemetery and does not involve any construction work on the cultural heritage site," which includes the fence with the gate church and portals of Baikove Cemetery.
Furthermore, the official noted that the object's passport does not designate the entire fence as a cultural heritage item, but only certain parts of it.
Taking this into account, the Deputy Mayor appealed to the representatives of the Kyiv City Council, suggesting not to support the electronic petition No. 13333 "Save the Unique Fence of Baikove Cemetery."
It is worth noting that the petition from Kyiv residents calling to preserve the historic fence of Baikove Cemetery, published on the Kyiv City Council website, has garnered over 6,000 votes. The authors of the initiative point out that the work to replace the authentic fence of the cemetery with a new one made of concrete and clinker bricks threatens the existence of wrought iron grates, molded decor, symbolic sculptures, and inscriptions integrated into the columns of the historical brick enclosure and brick portals-gates, among others.
