The escalators are currently under renovation
The major repairs of the escalators at the "Beresteyska" station will be completed by the end of February, while those at "Lybidska" will be finished in April.
This information was provided by the press service of the capital's metro.
Experts explained that escalators are mechanisms that are used intensively every day and facilitate the transportation of hundreds of thousands of passengers. Their major repairs are conducted every 10–12 years or after a mileage of 150,000 kilometers, depending on the type of escalator and its specifications.
At the same time, metro officials noted that despite their considerable size, escalators are vulnerable mechanisms, and a small coin or passengers' outerwear can cause them to break down. In such cases, the escalator must be stopped for several hours to repair the damaged components, including the steps.
Reminder: Kyiv residents are urging the city authorities and police to take measures to stop begging by certain categories of citizens in the carriages of the Kyiv metro.
