It all started when, during the team's warm-up, they noticed a significant amount of bird droppings on the field. The referee, after consulting with the coaches of both teams, determined that the field designated for the match was unsafe for play. Although the home team was ready to proceed, the Seaham coaches decided that the environment was too hazardous and unpredictable, and requested to cancel the match. As a result, the game was officially called off.
The incident was also reported by West Allotment Celtic on their social media, where they explained the situation to their fans. They apologized for the inconvenience and urged spectators to keep their tickets, as the club operates on a limited budget and relies on ticket sales for revenue.
However, the story did not end there. To partially offset the financial losses from the canceled match, the club launched an original lottery. The grand prize – a bottle of premium Grey Goose vodka.
Additionally, lottery participants who purchase five tickets will have the chance to win a unique t-shirt featuring the slogan: "I saved the team from the geese!" This creative approach immediately attracted the attention of many club fans.
