A Dynamo legend was paralyzed just before the New Year.

In December 1990, Vasyl Rats, a midfielder for Kyiv's Dynamo and the Soviet national team, had already reached an agreement to transfer to Hungarian club Ferencváros. However, on December 31, a significant question mark was raised not only regarding the continuation of his career but also concerning the entire future of the legendary midfielder. Maxim Rozenko discusses the delicate situation from which the ethnic Hungarian Rats emerged with dignity.

Rac is still unable to fully comprehend the reason behind his illness.

Fortunately, Ferencváros was eagerly awaiting the legendary footballer and assisted him in every aspect, including his medical examination.

Vasyl (Laszlo) Rac.

Born on March 25, 1961, in the village of Fanchikovo, Zakarpattia region.

A graduate of the football school in Vynogradiv and the Lviv sports boarding school. Midfielder.

Played for teams: Karpaty Lviv (1978-1980), Nyva Vinnytsia (1980-81), Dynamo Kyiv (1981-89, 1991), Espanyol Barcelona, Spain (1989), Ferencváros Budapest, Hungary (1991-1992).

Achievements: USSR Champion (1981, 1985, 1986, 1990). USSR Cup Winner (1982, 1985, 1987, 1990). Cup Winners' Cup Winner (1986). European Championship Runner-up 1988. Hungarian Champion (1992). Hungarian Cup Winner (1991).

Participant in World Cups (1986, 1990).

For the USSR national team – 47 matches, 4 goals.

Included in the symbolic team of the 1988 European Championship.

Coaching career: Ferencváros Budapest, Hungary (1996-97, assistant head coach). From September to December 2007, he worked in the coaching staff of Kyiv's Dynamo. In 2011 – coach of the youth team of Kyiv's Obolon, from October 31 to November 26, he served as the acting head coach of Obolon.
