Russia has destroyed the school where the Semerenko sisters studied.

On November 7, the Russian army targeted the village of Krasnopillia in the Sumy region with KAB bombs. Three bombs struck the Krasnopillia Lyceum, where Ukrainian biathletes Vita and Valentina Semerenko were studying.

As a reminder, at the beginning of October, Vita Semerenko received a one-year suspension for violating anti-doping rules. The 38-year-old Ukrainian last competed in international events during the 2021/22 season. In the past two seasons, she has only participated in the Ukrainian championships.

In 2014, the Semerenko twin sisters won a gold medal in the Olympic Games in Sochi in the relay. Additionally, Vita secured a bronze medal in the sprint at Sochi-2014. Valentina is the world champion in mass start from 2015.

Neither of the Semerenko sisters has announced their retirement from sports yet. However, they are not part of the main or reserve teams of Ukraine.
