On this day in history, Lobanovsky revealed he was leaving the fair.

On October 30, 2001, Lobanovskyi's Dynamo played their final home match in the group stage of the Champions League. The Kyiv team defeated the Portuguese club Boavista 1-0, but unfortunately, they did not advance in the prestigious European club tournament.
История дня. Когда Лобановский признался, что уходит с ярмарки.

"After the match, we gathered around the table," recalls journalist Oleksandr Lypenko in a conversation with Maksym Rozenko. "The coaches, the administrators. I was the only journalist there. We drank and talked. In the midst of the gathering, Valeriy Vasilyovych unexpectedly said: 'Guys, well, I'm already leaving the fair. But I will be interested to observe you from the sidelines – will you behave like spiders in a jar?' Six months later, Lobanovskyi was gone.

"At that time, I was working at the radio, Lypenko continues his story. I decided to make a report from the funeral. I arrived at the stadium, and the coffin was standing behind the gates. A crowd of people was coming, coming, coming. I noticed that pigeons flew in. They perched on the gates, sat there for a while, and then flew away.

Forty days passed. There was a match at the Dynamo stadium. During the halftime of the game, the pigeons flew in again, landed on the crossbar, pecked at something, and then flew away. Aside from these two instances, I had never seen pigeons at the stadium. Only crows would come.

By the way, in his youth, Valeriy Vasilyovych had a pigeon loft. Now, when we commemorate the anniversary of the coach's death, we specially order a flock of pigeons and release them..."
