The court has sentenced a soldier to prison for a fatal car accident in the Kyiv region.
The court found a serviceman from the capital guilty and imposed a penalty for causing a deadly car crash in Hostomel while intoxicated.
This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation (GBR) on Friday, February 7.
In July 2024, the soldier got behind the wheel of a car while under the influence of alcohol. He had two passengers with him: a 24-year-old serviceman and a 21-year-old woman.
While driving during the day in Hostomel, he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the roadway, crash into a fence, and overturn. As a result of the accident, the passenger-soldier died at the scene, while the female passenger sustained serious bodily injuries.
Tests revealed that the driver had a blood alcohol concentration of 1.04 ppm. It was also established that he did not possess a category B driver's license.
The man was found guilty of violating traffic safety rules while under the influence of alcohol, resulting in the death of one victim and serious bodily injuries to another (part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The court sentenced him to five years in prison.
